Private Client Counsel | Chicago

Our client, a well-established national law firm, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Private Client practice in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for a sophisticated trusts and estates attorney to advise high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices, and closely held businesses on complex estate and tax planning matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on sophisticated estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning
• Develop and implement advanced wealth transfer and estate planning strategies
• Counsel clients on trust and estate administration
• Advise fiduciaries on complex tax and administration matters
• Handle fiduciary income tax issues
• Counsel business owners and families on business succession planning
• Serve as a trusted advisor to sophisticated private clients and their other professional advisors

Qualifications

• 9+ years of estate planning experience
• Significant experience working with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients
• Strong technical knowledge of estate, gift, GST, and fiduciary income tax matters
• Experience with sophisticated wealth-transfer planning and trust structures
• Experience with trust and estate administration
• Strong writing, communication, and client-service skills
• Active Illinois law license required

Compensation

$300,000-$400,000 base salary, plus bonus and comprehensive benefits. Actual compensation will depend on experience and other job-related factors.
